Combined Upgrade and Unicode Conversion (CU&UC) Cutover Project Plan Execution

Posted: 27 Feb 2009 09:52 AM CST

Combined Upgrade and Unicode Conversions(CU&UC) are complex projects. The activities to be performed as part of CU&UC are not the same as the day-to-day tasks that the Basis team has to perform to support production. CU&UC projects require special skills and, more importantly, 'experience' in Upgrades and Unicode conversion steps. This is particular true when the overall duration of such a project is squeezed, to around 4 months, and both the "Upgrade and Unicode" need to be implemented over a single weekend. A well thought out cut-over project plan is essential and, also, the execution needs to be accurate and should be run methodically as there is hardly any room for error. This blog depicts the cut-over activities of a CU&UC project's production go-live weekend.
