Pitfalls of EPM being finance driven Posted: 19 Jan 2010 01:40 AM PST Often management reporting/enterprise performance management frameworks are architected from a financial /accounting rule perspective. This makes the framework quiet rigid and removes organization wide business insight that would appeal to every line manager, not just finance managers/analysts. We discuss how we can get there in this blog
Savor Success Before 2009 Fades in the Rear-View Posted: 18 Jan 2010 09:19 PM PST It was supposed to be an awfully difficult year, and it was in some ways, but for the SAP communities and our members it was (surprisingly) positive. We achieved a lot together, made big strides of forward progress, delivered significant value and benefits to each other, and received noteworthy recognition for our achievements. Let's take a moment to reflect on the positives before we move headlong and full-speed into 2010.

Asset data resulting from Mergers & Acquisitions Posted: 18 Jan 2010 07:57 AM PST Mass onboarding of assets to the chart of accounts can prove to be onerous tasks for operational business users already challenged by daily operational needs. In the realm of corporate entities running SAP, that are engaged in mergers and acquisitions, using Desktop integration tools can alleviate some of the hardship resulting from such necessary activities.

Handling zip file entries with special characters and CP437 encoding Posted: 18 Jan 2010 06:44 AM PST This blog is about how to deal with zip files which contain files with special characters or umlauts e.g. German umlauts. With the classes in java.util.zip you can read / create zip files. When you try to read zip files which contain files with special characters you get an IllegalArgumentException (depending on the file encoding) and the file processing is interrupted.
