| First-Hand Lessons from the US Navy: Mission & Purpose Posted: 18 Jun 2010 04:12 PM PDT It's amazing how a company's mission can set its path forward -- and focus its employees on the critical tasks at hand, both for better or for worse outcomes. More important to the individual, I think, is a sense of purpose -- not so much what we do, but how and why we do it. I saw evidence of this during my recent trip on board a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier at sea -- and I believe the message transcends to those of us in civilian business life. |

| Posted: 18 Jun 2010 10:49 AM PDT A few weeks ago, SAP supported the launch of the Green Products Innovation Institute (GPII) at Google HQ together with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, William McDonough, Wendy Schmidt, CEO's from a significant number of SAP customers, and about 200 other sustainability leaders. William McDonough announced that many years of intellectual property will be donated to the GPII by as the basis for new open standards development around the Cradle-to-Cradle Design Framework. |
