SAP provides a framework for creating standardized Web Services based on well defined data types, communication patterns and naming conventions. When I developed custom enterprise services I learned that SAP offers great tools for web service definitions. SAP provides even more: a methodology for defining standardizes web services providing a semantics. And in my opinion this is more important than standards from academia that should enable new features but don’t deserve anyone’s needs.
