Creating Dashboards with Xcelsius — Practical Guide: Reusable Property Sheet Patterns Posted: 17 Nov 2010 11:52 PM PST One of the most useful concepts covered in the book is that of creating reusable property sheet patterns for use across all of your FleXcelsius projects. This is a rather lengthy topic that deserves a few chapters dedicated to it. It is only briefly touched on in the book, but just by reading about the concept, developers who are starting to work with the SDK and who aren't familiar with creating base Flex components and classes, will be immediately armed with the knowledge of the common functions they should begin looking at abstracting away into a base ActionScript class. If you're creating 3 or more custom components for SCDD/Xcelsius, you will want to create components that you can reuse as it will make your projects, now and future, much more manageable.

How to check whether a Web Dynpro Java "required" field contains any data Posted: 17 Nov 2010 11:22 AM PST If you set the "state" property of a WD Java InputField to "required", then this will place a visual decorator next to the InputField's associated Label field - but it won't do anything more than that... So here's the coding needed to check whether the user has entered a value into a Web Dynpro Java input field that has been maked as "required". This is a generic solution, but there is one place where the coding will possibly need to be extended in order to function in your situation.
Organizational Change Management is a Two-Way Street Posted: 17 Nov 2010 10:46 AM PST So far in this series, I have talked about analysis (business process, culture, IT strategy, workforce education) and governance. I have shared real-life stories of failures and successes and how they can be addressed. There is one more key function that needs to be explored. Within the governance process, the planning and execution of Organizational Change Management will ultimately determine whether or not you succeed in delivering the intended results. This next series will be specifically about this process.
