| CO-INNOVATION 2.0 AT SAP -- Design Thinking and a User Centric Approach to Meet Customer Needs Posted: 26 Apr 2011 06:00 AM PDT The word Innovation stands for creative and new ideas transformed into new products, services or processes, which successfully penetrate the market. Therefore, it is not enough to have a good idea. The customer must demonstrate that the invention can solve his business problem. To support this, it is recommended to integrate the customer into the development process from the beginning. In other words, you should involve the customer in the thought process when you plan a new solution. Instead, traditional R&D departments often try to find innovative solutions in isolation. They don’t show the solution to customers until it is nearly finished; or the fundamentals are fixed. R&D departments deploying co-innovation, on the other hand, use an iterative process of building, testing and evolving which integrates the customer and end-users. Leveraging knowledge from different sources, as opposed to focusing on the company’s internal knowledge, is an important ingredient for great innovations. |

| Process Controlled Workflow - Shopping Cart Example Posted: 25 Apr 2011 09:51 AM PDT In SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM), you use process-controlled workflows to model and carry out approval processes for purchasing documents, such as shopping carts. Workflows provide easy and flexible implementation of approval processes. Approval processes typically run on several process levels. Throughout these process levels, a document can require different kinds of checks and can involve agents with different roles, for example: A purchaser must complete a document lacking important information. A specialist must check and approve technical or other product-related information in the document. A manager must give financial approval, for example, if a shopping cart exceeds an employee's individual spending limit. |
