Posted: 24 May 2011 05:12 AM PDT Wow! What an amazing week. SAPPHIRE NOW 2011 is now behind us, but the work we described last week is just beginning. Last year, we talked about a transformation happening in three areas: in-memory, cloud, mobility. This year, I wanted to focus the keynote on HANA, not because it’s the only innovation we are delivering but because it is at the heart of SAP’s renewal and is core to everything we are working on. We had a very simple goal in mind: to show the business value of HANA through the customers that have seen the value firsthand. We’ve talked about speed and performance, and now we wanted to show the value. The best way to do this was through the customers voice. The response has been truly incredible.

WAMA 1.0 -- Is the Future of Transportation the End of the Horse-Carriage? Posted: 23 May 2011 03:11 PM PDT Almost two years ago, at STEPphireNOW, the main annual event in the horse carriage industry, transportation entrepreneur, innovator extraordinaire and founder of STEP AG, Plasso Hattner, gave a speech in which he boldly outlined the future of transportation: WAMA, a new type of motorized transportation engine that could eventually replace the horse carriage. But experts reassure: The horse-carriage will stay with us for a long time, and investments in it will be protected.

Game On! Cutting Edge Event in Budapest Dives into Diversity of Gamification Posted: 23 May 2011 10:34 AM PDT As I previously reported, gamification is invading SAP in a major way. This week, I will be co-presenting at a gamification event in Budapest, Hungary with Mario Herger who works in Technology and Strategy Innovation for SAP and moderates SAP communities like “Gamification at SAP” and “Innovation Steampunk.” Here’s more about this week’s gamification event, taken from the web site of Enter!Digital, an event series that covers evolving trends in international, digital marketing.
