Soon after posting 'Part 3 -- Enable Transport System on Netweaver 7.01 Trial' I went on to configure my Workflow Engine and realised that it had a very similar problem as the transport system had - For some reason this version of Netweaver is set up with the host name specified as PWDF3101 by default - This causes all sorts of complications, one of which I dealt with in the previous part of this series, and another here.

Enterprise application of this approach is picking up. Many SAP ABAP based applications run in background jobs which in turn create other background jobs (e.g. to allow for mass processing in parallel). For a job administrator there is the challenge to manage this newly created parent-child relationship. With SAP's XBP 2.0 (or higher) interface the relationship is recognized by your external job scheduler (such as SAP Central Process Scheduling by Redwood.)
